Building with Logs
People have been building with logs for over 2,000 years. There are many examples of log homes, churches, and barns across Europe and Russia that are over 350 years old.
The tree as a building material is a natural choice. The trees’ cell-like structure traps tiny pockets of air giving it tremendous insulation qualities and strength.
A log home will remain cool in the summer and retain heat well in the winter.
In these modern time we have to be conscious of our impact on the environment. A responsibly harvested tree can be a renewable resource and can act as a carbon bank. The tree, when it is growing, absorbs carbon. Preserving these trees in the wall of your home for 200-300 years delaying the tree releasing this carbon back into the atmosphere. Coupled with responsible planting can have a positive impact to our planet.
